US Postal Inspection Service offers up to $50,000 reward for information on arson suspects

Up to $50,000 in reward money is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individuals involved in post office arsons.

The US Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) is looking to identify persons of interest related to the arson fires that were set to two Minneapolis post offices during the riots that followed the death of George Floyd.

The USPIS issued the bulletin on Tuesday offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individuals involved.

Over a dozen people have been federally charged with arson related to the fires set in the Twin Cities during the riots that followed the death of Floyd on Memorial Day.

The ATF is also offering substantial reward amounts for information leading to the identification of several persons of interest still wanted in relation to several of the arson fires.

Nearly 150 buildings in the Twin Cities were reported to have been damaged by arson, many completely destroyed, and more than 1500 locations were damaged overall. Damage estimates due to the riots and arsons have been placed in the neighborhood of $500 million dollars.

Earlier this month, Gov. Tim Walz requested that President Donald Trump declare a “major disaster” for the state of Minnesota due to the extensive destruction caused by the riots and requested federal funds to help repair the damage.
