The transgender female to a male student, N.H., was allowed to join the boys swim team. Taking into account the students safety, along with privacy concerns for both him and the other members of the team, the school spent money constructing a private locker room for him to use.

The ACLU of Minnesota and Gender Justice says that this action by Coon Rapids High School is discriminatory because it gives this student his own space separate from the rest of the team. The Minnesota Department of Human Rights jumped in on the lawsuit “because equal access to public schools for all students, including transgender and gender nonconforming students, is a civil right protected by the Minnesota Human Rights Act.”

The district fired back with a statement that their goal is “to ensure that ALL students feel safe and comfortable.” The elaborate by saying these decisions are made on a case by case basis that includes consultations with school building administrators, the school’s Title IX coordinator, and superintendent.

This scenario follows a common trend around the nation, as seen by students like Alexis Lightcap and in the case at Honesdale Highschool this year. 239 US Congressmen and congresswoman have launched a war on transgender women that glimpse of the “left’s willingness to sacrifice women and girls to those wolves in sheep’s clothing — transgender or not — who would take advantage of them” as Abigail Shrier cautions in the Wall Street Journal. Our schools are just the beginning of this slippery slope that endangers students.
