SAINT PAUL, MN – Linwood, “Woody,” Kaine, son of Hillary Clinton’s running-mate, Tim Kaine, was among the six people arrested for rioting at the March 4 Trump rally in St. Paul on Mar. 4, 2017.
The Pioneer Press reported Linwood “Woody” Michael Kaine, 24, a former Carleton College student and second son of Democratic Vice Presidential candidate, Tim Kaine, was arrested with four others on suspicion of second-degree rioting; one other person was cited for disorderly conduct.
Approximately four hundred Trump supporters attended the March 4 Trump rally at the State Capitol in St. Paul on Saturday. A counter protest, “Make Racists Afraid Again,” sponsored by the UMN Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) descended upon the Capitol to disrupt the pro-Trump rally. As Alpha News reported, counter protesters used mace, air-horns and a taser on the Trump supporters. Fights also broke out between the protesters and Trump supporters.
The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office declined to charge the six claiming there was insufficient facts to charge the group with felony-level riot charges WCCO reported on Monday. The case has been moved by the State Patrol to the St. Paul City’s Attorney’s Office for consideration of misdemeanor charges.
According to the Pioneer Press, Kaine was released from the Ramsey County jail on Tuesday morning pending further investigation, law enforcement officials said.
The Republican Party of Minnesota released a statement condemning the anti-Trump protests:
“Once again, Democrat-aligned agitators have attacked people at a peaceful political event in Minnesota. Think about that for a moment: inside our State Capitol, masked attackers tried to shut down political speech by assaulting rally-goers.
Now we learn that Democrat-aligned groups have again targeted the Republican Party of Minnesota’s headquarters for a protest on Wednesday. We are calling on Mayor Betsy Hodges to take the threat of this protest seriously and protect our people and the building from assault.
Democrats have been coordinating disruption and violence throughout the election, and now after it with their ‘resistance’ efforts. It needs to stop, now. Chairman Ken Martin and Minnesota Democrats need to call off the dogs, shut down this violence, and dispense with the hatred and vitriolic language.” ~ Minnesota GOP Chairman Keith Downey
