Statewide Candidates Tackle Issues at State Fair

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Attorney General candidates and a candidate for U.S. Senate participated in a statewide candidate forum at the MNGOP booth at the Minnesota State Fair.

Candidates for Attorney General Harry Niska, a corporate lawyer, and Doug Wardlow, a former state legislator and attorney for Alliance Defending Freedom, talked about their faith and personal beliefs. Both concluded frequently that, if elected, they would do the job of the Attorney General by upholding the law.

Minnesota State Rep. Jim Newberger (R-Becker) is the only Republican to announce a bid against Minnesota Senior U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar. Newberger told the crowd that refugee resettlement would be his number one priority if elected. While Newberger does not have an issue with those immigrating to the United States, he announced he is concerned that immigrants want to “create their own rule of law.”
