Congressman Peterson is raising campaign money and attending parades, although he has not officially announced his plans to run again in 2020.
Recently, Congressman Peterson sold his one bedroom condo in Washington D.C for $460,000, saying that he didn’t like the condo management and that he “didn’t really want to have three homes.” He now rents an apartment that is 3 blocks from the U.S capitol in addition to owning a home in Detroit Lakes and Thief River Falls, Minnesota.
National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) spokeswoman, Carly Atchison, says that “Collin Peterson should stop sleepwalking through Congress while Minnesota families suffer.” adding that “it’s time [for Congressman Peterson] to go home.” Congressmen Peterson responded by saying republicans are “dreaming” of him retiring.
“I’ll make a decision in January or February like I always do,” Congressman Peterson said in response to the question of whether or not he will make a 2020 run for the 7th congressional district that he has represented for 28 years.
Congressman Peterson chairs the agriculture committee in the U.S House of Representatives and is known for being a conservative Democrat. However, he has voted to give amnesty to illegal gang members, failed to protect life in the womb, defended Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and voted against securing our southern border with a wall.
