An investigation is underway in Bloomington MN after a rope resembling a noose was found in an African American firefighter’s locker.

The rope, which looked like a ”crude noose,” was found on the 15th and was reported on the 23rd. After receiving the report, the City of Bloomington asked the FBI to investigate the matter and the mayor responded to the incident.

“To be clear, this incident is very serious and is being dealt with aggressively. The City of Bloomington, including the Fire Department, is committed to being a safe and respectful place to work for all employees,” reported Tim Busse, Mayor of Bloomington.

The Fire Chief also made a statement;

“Acts like this that embody hate, intimidation, and aggression will not be tolerated. The firefighter who brought this to our attention has demonstrated extreme strength and bravery and has done the right thing,” said Fire Chief Ulie Seal.

This comes after a similar incident occurred in a NASCAR garage, after Bubba Wallace, an African-American driver, reported a noose. That noose was found to be a door-pull by the FBI.

The city has urged anyone with information on the situation to contact the FBI’s Minneapolis field office.
