A new poll released Thursday has President Donald Trump trailing former Vice President Joe Biden by less than half a percentage point in Minnesota, well within the poll’s margin of error.
According to a poll from The Trafalgar Group, 46.9% of likely Minnesota voters plan to vote for Biden while 46.5% support Trump – a difference of 0.4%.
The poll was conducted between August 15 and 18 among 1,141 likely general election voters.
The same poll had Biden leading Trump by five percentage points when it surveyed Minnesota voters in July.
An Emerson College poll released last week had Trump down by just three points in Minnesota, which was within the poll’s 3.6 percentage point margin of error.
With a cushion of just 1.5%, Hillary Clinton narrowly defeated the president in Minnesota in 2016.
“I hear we’re doing very well in the poll too. We win Minnesota, it is over. It is over, right?” Trump said during a Monday event in Mankato. “I almost won last time. One more speech.”
