An early Wednesday morning shooting in New Brighton has left a teenager injured and police searching for suspects.

According to a post on the New Brighton Department of Public Safety’s (NBDPS) Facebook page, police are investigating a shooting that occurred outside an apartment building in the 2100 block of West County Road E around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20.

Details from the NBDPS were limited, but stated that two separate 911 calls were received, one from a resident reporting shots fired and another from the victim, a 17-year-old male who had been shot in the buttocks.

Police said limited information was given by the victim before he was transported by Allina paramedics to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC). Differing suspect vehicle descriptions were provided by both the witness and victim. Officers and detectives are continuing to canvass the area for any potential video surveillance system footage of the incident and/or the suspect vehicle leaving the area, the NBDPS post said.

Corresponding recorded police dispatch audio posted online by a police scanner incident page captured the police response to the incident and offered a few details about the possible suspects. Descriptions aired in the audio compilation indicated that the suspects were two black males driving either a silver Monte Carlo or a white Nissan.

The NBDPS said in their post that they would update with information regarding the incident on their Facebook page as necessary.
