As more Democrats continue to announce their candidacy for President, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is already making plans to win back the US House of Representatives.

NRCC which is led by Minnesota Congressman Tom Emmer announced 55 offensive targets for 2020 election cycle. Three Minnesota Democrats are on the list. They are

  • Angie Craig-MN-02
  • Dean Phillips-MN-03
  • Collin Peterson-MN-07

There have been rumors that Collin Peterson who is the longest-serving Congressperson in Minnesota is not going to run for re-election.

Emmer gave hints that the theme for 2020 will be Freedom vs Socialism saying “Freedom or socialism – that’s the choice in 2020, whether they are calling for open borders, refusing to denounce rampant anti-Semitism, advocating for a 90% tax rate or moving to legalize the murder of newborn babies, the new socialist Democrats are pushing an extreme agenda that is sorely out-of-touch.

Not all candidates have announced for those districts but that might change soon.

“We are hard at work recruiting strong, accomplished Republican candidates who will deliver our message of individual freedom and hold these targeted members accountable for the radical policies being pushed by the socialist Democrats in their party,” said Tom Emmer

In the 7th congressional district, Dave Hughes has said that he will run again after narrowly losing to Peterson in 2018. Willmar businessman Scott Van Binsbergen is also expected to announce his run against Collin Peterson. Former Republican Candidate for Secretary of State John Howe is also rumored to be exploring a congressional run against Collin Peterson.
