City Pages, that bastion of local journalistic integrity, thinks they’ve uncloaked a vast racist conspiracy in Alpha News’ recent crime coverage. Let’s look and see exactly what is, perhaps, the real conspiracy they’ve inadvertently exposed.
But, first, let’s review: City Pages, owned by the Star Tribune, is arguably the single most culpable entity responsible for sex-ploitation, objectification of women, human trafficking, sex trafficking, sexual abuse and child rape in the state of Minnesota over the years. But I digress.
On Tuesday, City Pages published what was designed to be a hit piece on Alpha News’ recent crime coverage. As it turns out, it’s really an indictment of our local media and a projection and reflection of their own closeted racism.
Let’s look at the 11 articles they cherry-picked out of forty-two to pit Alpha News’ as “racist,” a conclusion they’ve based solely on a composition of photos, not the content of the articles.
Abdifetah Ali Kalif. Minneapolis Man Charged with Sexual Assault of 14-Year-Old He Met Online
This is City Pages’ poster boy for their hit piece that appears to have triggered the icing on their conspiracy cake. This is the martyr on whom they seem to want to hang their hat. Let that sink when you read the original article about the charges against Abdifetah Kalif.
A current/former adult Minneapolis high school student accused of violently assaulting and raping a 14-year-old girl. And who, according to records, appears to be a somewhat recent arrival in the US and Minnesota. Seems newsworthy. Not covered at all by local media, which is specifically why it was reported by Alpha News. But that’s racist. If it had been that red-haired O’Malley boy fresh off the boat from Ireland, would Star Tribune or WCCO have had the story on their front page?

This story was actually covered by most local media and his face splashed all over the internet by them, but Alpha News is bad and racist for also covering it.

Retaliation, Shootings, Murder: Court Docs, Reports Reveal Violence of Twin Cities Somali Gangs
The Star Tribune couldn’t fall all over itself fast enough poo-pooing the suggestion of Somali gang wars when they reported in February about the shooting death of 17-year-old Abdiwasa Mohamed Farah behind the Red Sea restaurant in Cedar-Riverside. Several people have since been arrested following the murder who were directly or tangentially connected to the murder. All were identified either as Somali gang members or connected to Somali gang activity. Two were charged with the murder and two others, one of whom is a brother to one charged in the murder, were also arrested and charged with other shootings connected to gang activity. And the murder criminal complaint connected one of the guns used in the murder to at least one other gang-related shooting by one of the identified gang members who was one of those arrested. Seems like a lot of really newsworthy information. Not covered at all by local media. Not a peep of follow up on the murder or the arrests from Star Tribune or the connection to Somali gangs and violence revealed in the related criminal complaints, which is specifically why it was reported by Alpha News. But that’s racist.

Abdirahman Hussein Farah. Man with Back-to-Back Convictions for a Violent Rape, Assault Back in Custody
This violent sex offender who made headlines in 2010 and who was under intensive supervision since his release from prison in late 2018 was arrested at least twice in Minneapolis this year. He has since been reincarcerated as a result of the parole violation(s). Seems newsworthy. Not covered at all by local media, which is specifically why it was reported by Alpha News. But that’s racist.

Anike Tatiaramika Jiles. Burnsville Woman Sentenced to Over 17 Years for Burning Toddler
This horrific story was all but ignored by local media. KSTP did report on the original charges and the eventual conviction, but they left out some key facts from the criminal complaint which is the specific reason the story was reported by Alpha News. The woman charged and convicted wasn’t just some babysitter, she was the girlfriend of the child’s mother according to the criminal complaint. That seems like a significant detail purposely ignored or covered up by KSTP. A newsworthy story essentially not covered at all by local media that normally falls all over itself reporting when men abuse or harm the children of their girlfriends. But that’s racist.

Mahamed Abukar Said. MN Man Convicted in Islamic State Case for Threatening US AG Now Facing Over a Dozen Felony and Other Charges in Two Counties
Here’s another fellow that made significant headlines locally a few years ago for threatening the US Attorney General in a Minnesota ISIS-related federal case. Not only did every local media outlet that originally reported on that case fail to report the actual outcome of the case at the time – which was a plea bargain and a slap on the wrist for the perpetrator, the nearly two dozen new charges in a felony crime spree across the metro by this suspect – which seems newsworthy in itself and even more so given the suspect’s history – has gone completely unreported by all local media, which is specifically why it was reported by Alpha News. But that’s racist.

Cavis Deandre Adams. Man Convicted of Manslaughter in Green Line Assault of Senior Citizen Now Facing Several Gun Charges
Boy, if there’s a person deserving of headlines and media coverage it’s this guy who has wreaked havoc at Metro Transit LRT stations across the metro over the years, including a manslaughter. A more aggravating story revealing the failures of our local criminal justice system there could not be. Again, some local media covered the prior manslaughter charges but completely failed to cover the outcome of that case and other violent cases involving multiple plea bargains and slaps on the wrist. And now Adams is facing new gun charges to two different counties. Seems newsworthy. Completely unreported by all local media, which is specifically why it was reported by Alpha News. But that’s racist.

Abdullahi Ahmed Ali. Man Wanted Since 2016 on Weapons Conviction Finally Arrested, Sentenced
Another total failure of our state’s criminal justice system involving a chronic offender that our Minnesota court system just kept spinning through the revolving door. Unreported by local media, which is specifically why it was reported by Alpha News. But that’s racist.

Jamie Terrell Blevins. Minneapolis Man Charged in Two Counties for Spree of “Till Tap” Thefts
A felony crime spree that spanned the metro from Golden Valley to Anoka with close to two dozen incidents, maybe more, seems newsworthy. Completely unreported by all local media, which is specifically why it was reported by Alpha News. But that’s racist.

Abdimalik Hassan Abi. Minneapolis Man Charged with Armed Robbery in St. Cloud
Yet another article exposing the failure of our criminal justice system that appears to favor wrist slaps and plea bargains for certain perpetrators, which go unreported by our local media. Stays of imposition on two recent felony cases and now he’s facing four new violent felony charges, allegedly committed when he should have been in prison on the prior felony convictions, which is specifically why it was reported by Alpha News. But that’s racist. Tip to any other local media that may want to start paying attention: prosecutors have just offered Abi another plea bargain on the new violent felony charges.

Abshir Ali Abdulkadir. Man Who Received Stayed Sentence Following 2016 “Crime Spree” Now in Custody on Probation Violation
More plea bargains and wrist slaps for a chronic offender after several convictions including a crime spree and home invasion, which is specifically why it was reported by Alpha News. But that’s racist.

So, what do we have here? A lot of newsworthy, factual content that exposes real crime issues in the Twin Cities as well as deep flaws in our criminal justice system that City Pages and apparently most other local media refuse to address or cover – because of skin color and identity politics. That, friends, is racist.
It looks like you’re right, City Pages, there certainly does seem to be a conspiracy going on.
And, the kicker? It appears to be OK when City Pages prints a list of “thugs” in Minneapolis that contains all persons of color but one. That’s totally not racist. And it certainly wasn’t racist when they wrote a piece shaming a bunch of all black Timberwolves players who’d been arrested for mostly minor crimes like smoking weed and being disorderly, or the time they relished in roasting the nearly all black list of Vikings players who’d been arrested at various times. Totally not racist.
And it’s totally not racist that writers at City Pages can’t see anything past skin color long enough to be bothered to read the substance of relevant and newsworthy crime reports that they completely dismissed purely on the basis of skin color.
