Jason Rarick - Special Election

Despite being rejected by the Minnesota Democrat Delegates  Stu Lourey was able to narrowly prevail in the Democratic Primary.  He will now face Republican Jason Rarick who did not have a primary challenger on Tuesday, February 5th.

Rarick has received significant momentum by not only getting endorsements from traditional Republican-leaning group like the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life,  and Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus but also labor groups that have traditionally supported Democrats. They include the International Union of Operating Engineers, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 110, and the Carpenters Union.

Stu Lourey has spent the last several years working in DC. He worked for the disgraced Democrat Al Franken and most recently for US Senator Tina Smith.

Stu Lourey has raised nearly $30,000 with nearly $5,000 coming from his father’s political committee. Liberal special interests groups are also investing heavily to help the self-described progressive Lourey win. President Trump was able to win this district in 2016.

The district includes all of Pine County and parts of Carlton, Kanabec and St. Louis counties.
