Minnesota Democrats Angie Craig, Dean Phillips, and Collin Peterson Are Helping Block USMCA Trade Deal

Thanks to President Trump, we are at the cusp of having a new trade agreement that will create more opportunity and prosperity for farmers and manufacturers in Minnesota. However, Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Democrats continue to stand in the way of progress. Reps. Angie Craig, Dean Phillips, and Collin Peterson may be best friends with Nancy Pelosi, but they have an obligation to their constituents to get USMCA to the House floor for a vote.”

Democrats led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi are refusing to hold a vote on the popular United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement. The deal which has the broad support of prominent groups including the National Association of Manufacturers, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers , and automakers including Ford, General Motors, and Fiat Chrysler remains stalled.

Small business groups have also endorsed the new deal. The National Small Business Association (NSBA), and the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council (SBE) both endorsed the USMCA and Karen Kerrigan, President Of The SBE, wrote the “USMCA would greatly benefit American small businesses and encourage new business creation in America.”

President Trump is hoping the benefits of the deal will persuade the Democrats to pass a new deal soon.

Some of the benefits include

  • $34 billion in new automotive manufacturing investments in the U.S.
  • $23 billion in new annual purchases of U.S.-made automotive parts.
  • 76,000 jobs in the U.S. automotive sector.
  • An additional $68.2 billion added into the U.S. economy.
  • 176,000 total new jobs.
  • Increased GDP and employment growth.
  • Increased U.S. exports to Canada and Mexico.

RNC Spokesperson Preya Samsundar specifically called on Minnesota Democrats to call for a vote issuing the statement below.
