During a recent ruling by the campaign finance board which resulted in a fine for Rep. Ilhan Omar, a new detail emerged that showed that Ilhan Omar filed a joint tax return with her current husband while being legally married to a man who is alleged to be her brother.

The campaign finance board has said they will not look into the fraudulent tax form filed by Ilhan Omar since it is not their jurisdiction however the IRS could still open up an investigation.

The only comment that Ilhan Omar has made regarding this new evidence is “All of Rep. Omar’s tax filings are fully compliant with all applicable tax law.”

Left-leaning StarTribune editorial board has penned an editorial lamenting the fact that the credibility of Ilhan Omar is almost nonexistent. Conservatives have been begging the mainstream media to start investigating Ilhan Omar. Majority of the reporting on this case was done by Scott Johnson of Powerline, Preya Samsnudar and Christine Baumann former contributors to Alpha News, and David Steinberg of PJ Media.

Former Alpha News Reporter Preya Samsundar found a marriage certificate between Ilhan Omar and Ahmed Elmi that seems to contradict the original claim by Omar that the reason for being married to two people was due to confusion regarding her “faith tradition”

Scott Johnson from Powerline points-out

What “faith tradition” did Omar and Elmi invoke for their 2009 wedding and marriage? I have posted a screenshot of an image of the marriage certificate below. It is signed by “Wilicia Harris, minister.” I don’t purport to know what the story is. However, I am unaware of female imams in Omar’s “faith tradition” or of clerics in Omar’s “faith tradition” who refer to themselves as “ministers.” Relevant again in light of the Minnesota campaign finance board investigation, this is just one more mixed-up file in the mixed-up files of Rep. Ilhan Omar.

Scott Johnson also was able to obtain internal documents showing the Ilhan Omar campaign frantically trying to kill this story going as far as actively trying to contact reporters and influencers asking them not to look into the case.

Johnson writes

When local political commentator/publisher Blois Olson cited the August 2016 Power Line post and referred to Power Line as “a trustworthy conservative news source” in his daily newsletter, Goldbarb advised: “Someone should reach out to talk off the record [with Olson] and shut it down with him as we do with the Strib” (page 22). Goldfarb remarked on his struggle to arrive at a helpful statement of the facts to cover Omar’s situation — one cultural husband, one legal husband — and lamented that “I think it’s impossible without making it even more confusing. It just doesn’t work in writing” (page 38).

In his morning newsletter Morning Take, Blois Olson wrote “This is the type of reporting that other media should be doing, which is why there continues to be fair criticism about local coverage of Omar and others.”
