Klassen: The Pro-Life Perspective on Black Lives Matter

Since the founding of Planned Parenthood over 10 million black babies have been aborted.

The Pro-life movement prides itself on defending the dignity and value of every human life. From womb to tomb, the Pro-life movement fights injustices done to every human. Being Pro-life is about more than being anti-abortion, it’s about every life. With that understanding, wrongful deaths should outrage any truly pro-life person. The death of George Floyd should not have happened. It was avoidable. Since life was taken unjustly, the pro-life movement should stand in outrage.

In light of the death of George Floyd, the peer pressure from the left and mainstream media has driven droves of people to support the Black Lives Matter movement, but as a pro-lifer can you support BLM?

The name sounds like something we can all get behind, yes, Black lives do matter. But when we look at the organization, we can see that Black Lives Matter does not include ALL Black lives. As an organization BLM partners with institutions and politicians that advocate for abortion. Planned Parenthood announced their support for BLM, saying it was a noble cause and black lives need to be protected (we’ll get to the irony here in a bit). As an institution, Black Lives Matter profits off of the oppression of the Black community and partners with organizations and people that support murder. It is even backed by an abortion provider. It is not an organization that falls in line with a pro-life mindset.

How can the Pro-life movement defend and support the Black community then? Fighting against the biggest killer of Black Lives is the best answer.

Planned Parenthood is one of the biggest abortion providers in the United States. They were founded by famous eugenics supporter, Margret Sanger who said, “we don’t want word to get out that we want to terminate the Negro population”. Planned Parenthood’s roots are racist and we can see the ugly fruits of this now as 79% of Planned Parenthood abortion facilities are in minority neighborhoods. Since the founding of Planned Parenthood over 10 million black babies have been aborted.

Abortion rates in the Black community are higher than anywhere else. Between 2012 and 2016 the New York City Health Department found mothers who are Black terminated 136,426 pregnancies while mothers who are Black only gave birth to 118,127 children. White women or those of other ethnicities were found to have fewer abortions and birth more children. Around 200 Black people are killed by police every year while abortion kills 1,000 black babies every day!

Black lives are literally being wiped out by abortion. The Black Lives Matter organization is only fighting for some Black lives. We need to fight for ALL Black lives. So let’s protest, let’s take action, let’s not back down and fight the death of innocent members of the Black community and let’s start with the biggest offender: abortion!
