Karen Monahan, the woman accusing Rep. Keith Ellison of domestic violence, continues to share screenshots of messages she claims to have received from Ellison during their break-up.

Since accusing Ellison of verbal and physical abuse, Monahan has released pictures of messages allegedly from Ellison. Most recently, Monahan shared a series of messages on Facebook, saying she has avoided sharing personal aspects of Ellison’s life but does “get to negate the lies and smears.” Monahan claims she broke up with Ellison in January 2017, but continued to receive messages from him for a year.

“After I realized this situation was narcissist abuse, I told him I now understood the dynamics of the relationship and the various forms of abuse,” Monahan wrote on Facebook. “He would call that bickering when he was called out. But he still left messages like this throughout the whole year of 2017.”

“Karen, if you miss me and want me back, I am willing to try again,” Ellison wrote in a February 2017 message. “I will make it clear that you are my ONE and ONLY. But if you don’t want me back, then what’s the point of all of the bickering? Calling me names?”

In another message from February 2017, Ellison said he missed Monahan and expressed regret for how things ended, writing that he “screwed that up.” Ellison said he didn’t see how the “narcissism thing” fit, but wrote that it was “something to seriously consider.”

“So strange you’re not here in my life,” Ellison wrote. “I expect that you would always be there. I guess I screwed that up. Don’t blame you. I read and watched all the video you sent. Interesting. I don’t see how the narcissism thing fits me, but it’s something to seriously consider. Anyway, it’s really sinking in he you’re really gone. Hard to believe. I’m not as strong as you. I hate like coming home to an empty house. I kind of wish someone was there. I miss you being there. Anyway. I will bring your stuff by Sunday or Monday.”

Monahan has also released medical records that corroborate her claims. One medical record from November 2017 specifically acknowledges Ellison. The medical report from Jodi K. Milburn, MD reads in part:

“She states that she was in a very stressful environment for years, emotional and physical abuse by a partner with whom she is now separated. She did not have any physical injuries that required a physical examination in the past. She identifies the individual she was involved with as congressmen [sic] Ellison, and she is worried about retribution if she identifies him publicly.”

Ellison continues to deny the allegations against him. In a recent debate, Ellison acknowledged he was in a “long term relationship” with Monahan, but claimed her story was fabricated.

Despite attempting to dismiss Monahan’s claims as “not true,” Ellison refused to rule out the potential of other allegations surfacing, saying he doesn’t know “what somebody might cook up.”
