Newly unearthed video shows John Thompson threatening to burn down two more towns

"Believe it or not, the fires can come to Falcon Heights, the fires can come to St. Anthony," Thompson warned at a rally.

Endorsed Minnesota Democrat John Thompson threatened to burn down the towns of Falcon Heights and St. Anthony in a newly-unearthed video.

Thompson is a Democrat running for Minnesota House in District 67A with endorsements from Gov. Tim Walz, Rep. Ilhan Omar and the Minnesota DFL. A new video shows Thompson apparently threatening two Minnesota towns in early July at a rally held in honor of Philando Castile on the anniversary of his death.

“Believe it or not, the fires can come to Falcon Heights, the fires can come to St. Anthony,” Thompson warned at a rally.

Thompson also threatened to forcibly remove politicians from office. “We snatched down Christopher Columbus, we can snatch some of these racist ass politicians out of office,” he said, apparently referencing the organized attack against a Columbus statue at the State Capitol in June.

The comments were delivered one month before Thompson made national headlines after he threatened to burn down the town where Minneapolis police union President Bob Kroll lives.

“You think we give a fuck about burning Hugo down?” he asked an angry mob amassed outside Kroll’s home. “Blue lives ain’t shit,” he added.

Despite Thompson’s controversial statements, Walz still endorses him as of Sept. 23. “At this moment, we have not rescinded the endorsement,” the governor recently told reporters, according to KSTP.

Thompson’s political career seems centered around his opposition to the police and a host of other progressive causes.

He alleges that the police “were historically set up to oppress people of color,” according to his campaign website. He also wants to legalize felon voting, supports the Green New Deal, and wants to give free health care and driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants while ensuring “that no state agencies cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).”
