Harris delivers campaign advertisement, doesn’t let Barrett speak

It was political theatre at its worst.

Appearing off site with poor audio, Sen. Kamala Harris got the Democrats’ last word in prime time Tuesday. And she didn’t waste her chance to give a campaign speech three weeks before Election Day.

The California senator and vice presidential nominee delivered an incoherent 16-minute advertisement riddled with left-wing pabulum, before she asked Judge Amy Coney Barrett a single question. Harris asked some rhetorical questions, barely waited for answers to those, and ended with another uninterrupted eight-minute lecture. It was political theatre at its worst, and sad for viewers that Harris wouldn’t allow a more honest, accomplished woman to speak.

Harris also claimed the Republicans are rushing the confirmation because they need “just one more vote” to strike down the Affordable Care Act. She said, “this is happening;” no, Kamala, it isn’t happening.

As Prof. Jonathan Turley explained Tuesday, the ACA case concerns severability and at least two conservatives on the court already support severability in such cases.

It’s also clear that, facing Democrat propaganda, Barrett is expected to express empathy on demand. The people in their photos are not the victims of Barrett and, sad as their stories seem, are irrelevant to the judge’s views.

Democrats will continue to espouse conspiracies and try to portray a brilliant mother and lawyer as a monster. And though their media will mischaracterize, after two days of interactions, Barrett comes across as a compassionate, fair-minded human being to any objective person.
