Minnesota Republican Party Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan raised eyebrows last week when she seemingly endorsed MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell for governor.

Carnahan said Lindell, an honorary chairman of President Donald Trump’s campaign, is “working tirelessly across the country to ensure we deliver Donald Trump four more years and flip Minnesota in 43 days.”

“It will happen. And then we are going to make him our next governor,” said Carnahan.

Lindell has been open about his interest in running against Gov. Tim Walz in 2022, but several other Republicans are rumored to be considering a bid, including Sen. Scott Jensen and former state Rep. Matt Dean.

Endorsements are typically voted on by state delegates at the party convention in May of each election year.

President Trump also expressed his support for Lindell during his recent campaign stop in Bemidji, Minnesota.

“You should run. You should run. He has my complete and total endorsement. You’d be a hell of a governor. At least you know one thing: Minnesota would be well promoted,” said Trump. “Mike, run for governor please.”

Walz was elected to his first term in 2018 and won’t face reelection until November 2022. A Star Tribune poll released Monday shows that the governor’s approval rating has dropped eight points since May.
