Former Lt. Governor Michelle Fischbach Announces Congressional Bid

The race has recently been moved from a Lean D to Toss Up by the influential Crystal Ball House rating

Former State Senator and Lt. Governor Michelle Fischbach announced she will seek GOP nomination to challenge Democrat Congressman Collin Peterson.

Fischbach joins Dave Hughes as the second Republican to announce in what is considered the most Pro-Trump district held by a Democrat.

Right off the bat Fischach is positioning herself as an ally of President Trump and highlighting the fact that Peterson has consistently voted against the President.

“One of his first votes this Congress was to ban the wall, and he votes against President Trump 85 percent of the time,” she said. “Unlike Peterson, I will work with President Trump to secure our borders, build the wall, fight against the Democrats’ socialist agenda and keep America great.”

Republican National Committee is bullish about electing a Republican to replace Collin Peterson.

RNC Spokesperson Preya Samsundar issued the following statement

“In a district that supported President Trump by a 31-point margin in 2016, Collin Peterson’s days as a United States Congressman were already numbered. This weekend’s ratings change is a wakeup call for Democrats who think rural Minnesotans will stand by as Peterson continues to side with the far-left antics of Nancy Pelosi and the Squad.”
