Florida won ‘the lockdown science war’

Florida has outperformed states like California and New York on key COVID-19 metrics, according to data released by Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office and compiled by Rational Ground.

Popular YouTuber and biochemical engineer Ivor Cummins discussed Rational Ground’s article in a recent video.

In late September, Florida entered phase three of its reopening plan but has outperformed the “hard lockdown states” over the past four months, according to Cummins.

“This one is the final punch in the gut for the lockdown supporters,” said Cummins, referring to U-Haul migration data that show Florida ranks third in the nation for one-way rentals.

Students have been in school since August and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has not only refused to issue a mask mandate, but has banned cities and counties from enforcing local mask ordinances.

“We will never do any of these lockdowns again, and I hear people say they’ll shut down the country, and honestly I cringe,” DeSantis said in September.

On schools, DeSantis said Florida followed “the evidence and the data,” not “special interests.”

“We did what was right by students and families and we’re much better for that. And the fact that you’re going to have schools that are going to be closed for this entire school year, and probably even into the fall, is a national disgrace,” DeSantis said during a recent press conference.
