Senator Dave Thompson of Lakeville (District 58) will be retiring at the end of his term.  Several candidates have stepped up to replace him, with the endorsing convention for the Republican party taking place this Saturday.  There are four candidates seeking the endorsement.

One of the candidates is Tim Pitcher, a medical device engineer and Farmington City Council member.  Pitcher is passionate about tax reduction and fixing Minnesota’s crumbling transportation.  Pitcher’s website can be seen by clicking here.

Mike Freundschuh is a small business owner and Vietnam veteran.  His website states, “Freundschuh owns a Lakeville based business, NPIA, Inc., that was formed in 1993.”  He hopes to address school funding, infrastructure, health care issues, veteran’s affairs, taxes, and funding for social service programs.

Melissa Sauser is another candidate running, her website states she is “beginning her sixth year of service on the Farmington School Board” and “represents Farmington on the Intermediate School District 917 Board and serves on the Minnesota School Board Association Board of Directors.”  Sauser says, “I know how important it is to have voices at the Capital who know what we need to do to ensure Minnesota’s children get the education they need and deserve.”

According to sunthisweek.com, the fourth candidate is Mark Priore.  The website states that Priore is a tax attorney in Lakeville, a US Navy veteran, and is running to “help reduce the size and scope of government.”

The endorsing convention is this Saturday at Boeckman Middle School.  Subscribe to Alpha News as we continue to follow this race.
