Commentary: Democrats must rein in their Hamas caucus

While Biden occasionally says the right things, he's been silent on domestic anti-Semitism, because a contingent of Hamas supporters vocally control his party.

While Friday morning’s ceasefire quelled violence in Israel for now, other serious issues remain.

For decades, Democrats and Republicans stood in solidarity with Israel because, since the Jewish state’s founding 73 years ago this month, they’ve proven to be a liberal democracy much like the United States.

Americans also know Israel is a chief ally in the world’s most volatile region. Its highly sophisticated military and counterterrorism expertise is invaluable as we wage the long war against radical Islamists.

Over the last two weeks, Hamas terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets at civilian areas in Israel, with about 15% malfunctioning and actually falling in Gaza.

Truthfully, what’s occurring in the Holy Land is not an Israeli-Palestinian conflict per se; it’s an Iranian attack on Israel by proxy.

As Hamas calls the shots along the Gaza Strip, Israel rightly defends herself. The incredible Iron Dome system saved tens of thousands of Palestinian lives.

But this is not permissible to some Democrats in the 117th Congress, especially from the so-called “Hamas caucus.”

None of these anti-Semitic ignoramuses understand foreign policy matters, yet draw deceitful moral equivalence between Israel and Islamofascists.

In recent days, Sen. Bernie Sanders and fellow noxious socialists introduced legislation to stop sales of military supplies that Israelis use to defend themselves from terror attacks. Self-loathing Sanders is a “Jew” with zero interest in ongoing attacks on Jews by Muslims in America.

His partner in crime, Rep. Ilhan Omar, has predictably been calling Israeli defense strikes “terrorism” for weeks. The Muslim Brotherhood, a designated foreign terrorist organization, applauded the Minnesota congresswoman.

Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib wants another Holocaust, yet President Joe Biden said this week he admires her intellect.

Ill-informed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thinks the current administration shouldn’t even say Israelis are allowed to live.

The Hamas Squad is growing. New members Cori Bush, a conspiracy nut, and Jamal Bowman, also are not fans of Jews’ right to exist.

Pramila Jayapal, who represents a wealthy far left Seattle district, audaciously blamed Israel for the Iranian-funded rockets attacking them.

Do any these low-IQ dunderheads realize Hamas does not use money flowing into Gaza for “infrastructure,” job creation, or Palestinian health care? The money goes for terror tunnels, weapons, and lavish lifestyles of corrupt leaders. The Hamas caucus purposely never mentions Hamas.

Hamas uses children to protect its missiles. Israel, on the other hand, uses its missiles to protect its children. Israel also shows admirable restraint, launching at lawful military targets like rocket stockpiles and terror leaders.

“Its responses are tactical, aimed at diffusing threats, not at punishing children,” David Harsanyi explained. “If Israel wanted to see suffering, they could instantly shut down electric power and clean water in Gaza long term. And if Israel relied on a disproportionate use of force, as its critics claim, Gaza City would be a prosperous Jewish resort town.”

While most feckless Democrat leaders have been muted — supposedly pro-Israel Sen. Chuck Schumer, who represented New York before Ocasio-Cortez was born, is cowering in fear of her primary challenge — Rep. Ted Deutch recently jabbed his Hamas-friendly colleagues on the House floor.

“Shockingly, some condemn Israel rather than the terrorists. Not me. I stand with Israel,” the Florida Democrat said.

Deutsch probably knows Americans sympathize with Israel because they understand Israel’s enemies also hate the U.S. The soulless suicide bombers who chant “Death to Israel” believe the same murderous ideology as Islamists who killed 3,000 innocent Americans two decades ago this September.

When ignorant British “comedian” John Oliver deceitfully accused Israel of “war crimes,” John Podhoretz replied in the New York Post. “War criminals don’t drop ‘knock-knock’ dud bombs on buildings to provide warning to the residents and office renters that an attack is coming so they can get out of harm’s way. War criminals don’t telephone the owners of buildings to let them know a strike is coming, so that residents might be evacuated.”

Republicans have stayed true to pro-democracy, pro-Israel policies that used to be universally supported. It’s why I switched parties many years ago. While Biden occasionally says the right things, he’s been silent on domestic anti-Semitism, because a contingent of Hamas supporters vocally control his party.
