“Whatever position I take, that’ll become the issue.”

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden refused to say if he supports packing the U.S. Supreme Court during Tuesday night’s presidential debate.

“Whatever position I take, that’ll become the issue,” said Biden. “The issue is the American people should speak. You should go out and vote. You’re in voting now. Vote and let your senators know how strongly you feel.”

“Are you going to pack the court? He doesn’t want to answer the question,” President Donald Trump interjected.

“I’m not going to answer the question because,” Biden said, but was unable to finish his response.

Senate Democrats have threatened to end the filibuster and expand the number of Supreme Court justices — “pack the court” — if Republicans confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett, the president’s nominee to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
