Alpha News Poll Results: Trump Resoundingly Wins 2nd Presidential Debate

Sunday, October 9, 2016, Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton (D) and Donald J. Trump (R) faced off for the second time this campaign season. In a town-hall style presidential debate, the two candidates took questions from the moderators, Anderson Cooper (CNN) and Martha Raddatz (ABC), debate attendees and from questions posted online.

So who won the debate? According to an Alpha News online poll held from the evening of October 9 to the morning of October 12, Donald Trump won the debate.

With 240 people responding, 76.3% said Donald Trump was the clear winner with 21.2% giving the win to Hillary Clinton.

When asked how each candidate performed, 141 respondents rated Clinton a “2” or less (out of 5); Trump received a “4” or better from 177 respondents.pie-chart-debate-performance

 

Immigration, Healthcare, Terrorism and the National Debt were the top four issues for the poll respondents, with “Clinton’s Email Server” taking a close 5th to the top four. The much reported Trump “locker room comments” fell to the bottom with only 20 people listing that as an important issue in this election.

As for the debate changing voters’ minds about their candidates, 84.2% responded that the debate did not change their mind about either candidate.

The third and final debate will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas from 9-10:30pm (EDT) and will be moderated by Chris Wallace (Fox News). The third debate format will be identical to the first debate, with Clinton and Trump answering questions posed to them by Wallace, and given opportunity to respond to the other candidate’s answers.
