Trump Supports Tomi Lahren After Confrontation In Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS – President Donald Trump has spoken out in support of Fox News contributor Tomi Lahren after she was attacked at the Union Restaurant Rooftop in downtown Minneapolis.

Lahren visited the Twin Cities over the weekend for her “Family, Freedom, and Final Thoughts” tour that was held at the Pantages Theatre last Saturday. On Sunday morning, Lahren and her parents went out to a rooftop brunch at Union. As Lahren and her parents left, a woman seated at a table of nine threw her drink at her.

Lahren attempted to calmly confront the group, but another woman seated at the table launched into a profanity-laced tirade.

The friend of the offender recorded the incident.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, the friend defended their actions, calling Lahren “racist” and saying she was “not welcome” in Minneapolis.

“When you use your platform to spread hate speech, you have lost your privilege to have a peaceful discourse,” the friend told the Daily Mail. “Especially when you come into our city, Minneapolis, which is a huge city for people of color and immigrants. She is not welcome here.”

The woman who threw the drink and the rest of her group were escorted out of the restaurant. Union Restaurant issued a statement to WCCO saying their goal is to “provide a welcoming and enjoyable experience” for all their guests.

“It is our goal to provide a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all our guests,” Union Restaurant said in a statement provided to WCCO. We expect that diners at our restaurant will conduct themselves accordingly.”

Lahren was on Fox & Friends Wednesday morning and talked about the incident in Minneapolis. The incident gained attention nationwide, including from President Trump who is a noted fan of Fox’s morning show.

Trump tweeted his support for Lahren, calling her an “outstanding” young woman.

Lahren told the Fox & Friends hosts that the incident was “disheartening” and “embarrassing.”

“I think looking back, those are the people that are going to be embarrassed by their actions. I think their parents raised them better,” Lahren said. “You don’t have to like me, you don’t have to agree with my political opinions, but you don’t have the right to throw things at me.”
