Democrat Joe Radinovich continues to be plagued by his lengthy court record, with a new Republican ad drawing a stark comparison between him and his opponent.
The Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF) released a new ad Monday highlighting Radinovich’s long history of breaking the law with Republican Pete Stauber’s career as a police officer.
Radinovich has a court record of over 30 violations since 2004. Almost all of the violations are traffic violations, including four speeding tickets and three instances of driving with a suspended license. Many of the violations were paid late.
Radinovich’s record also shows a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia, a charge that was later dismissed under a plea deal.
Stauber’s 22 years working to uphold the law as a police officer shows he is the “better choice,” according to CLF.
“Career politician Joe Radinovich has a history of breaking the law that includes driving with a suspended license and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge,” said Michael Byerly, CLF spokesman. “While Radinovich tries to hide his run-ins with the law, Pete Stauber served his community in the Duluth Police Department for 22 years. Pete Stauber will always put Minnesota families first.”
Caroline Tarwid, the press secretary for the Pete Stauber for Congress campaign, has also called attention to the differences between the two candidates. Tarwid says for Stauber has staked his decades-long career on “character and integrity.”
“For much of that same time, Joe has been ignoring the very law and order that hardworking Minnesotans in the 8th district follow every day,” Tarwid said in a press release.
“Joe owes voters an explanation for his poor judgment, careless decisions, and reckless pattern of breaking the law – even this year as a congressional candidate,” Tarwid added.
