ST. PAUL, MN — Ilhan Omar made history when Minnesotans in House District 60B elected her to the State Capitol. Omar became the first Somali-American and second Muslim-American to be elected in Minnesota’s House of Representatives.

Omar plans to follow Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) and will use the Quran on swearing-in day. Ellison used the Quran on swearing-in day during his tenure in the Minnesota House, then used Thomas Jefferson’s Quran on swearing-in day in D.C. Omar will be the second person in Minnesota history to use the Quran.

In a mass email sent out to supporters, The Muslim American Society (MAS) has teamed up with CAIR-MN and 25 other Islamic organizations in sponsoring Omar’s swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol

The email, obtained by Alpha News can be viewed here. The email states,

“ Assalamu Alaikum. MAS Minnesota would like to welcome the Muslim community to the swearing in ceremony of Representative Ilhan Omar. Alhumdulillah, this is a historic moment for our community as we elect Representative Ilhan as our Muslim sister and the first Somali-American legislator into office. She will be the only Muslim in the current legislature. She plans to take her oath of office on the Quran. We hope you will join us in celebration in shaa Allah.”

MAS is a subsidiary of the Muslim Brotherhood. Three founders of MAS were linked to Hamas terrorists during an investigation into the Holy Land Foundation, which was identified by the U.S. Government as a front for terrorism.

As Alpha News reported, Ellison canceled his plans to speak at the annual Muslim American Society – Islamic Circle of North America conference.

Minnesota Congressman Colin Peterson (D-MN) is one of 71 co-sponsors to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization in the United States. Reuters reports that Saudi Arabia officially designated the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization in 2014.
