Controversy is continuing to build surrounding Planned Parenthood after an undercover video was released by a pro-life group. The video apparently shows Planned Parenthood of America’s Senior Director of Medical Services Deborah Nucatola discussing questionable tissue donation practices. (video)

Planned Parenthood stated that this video shows nothing more than a discussion about their fetal tissue donation program. Others, however, are reacting to the parts of the video where discussions of costs, and illegal abortion procedures took place.

Alpha News spoke to Bill Poehler, the Communications Director of Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, a non-profit, pro-life organization in Minneapolis. Poehler believes this is yet another example of the contradictory nature of Planned Parenthood, stating, “Planned Parenthood at times talk abut unborn babies as simply tissue, but then when it comes to providing baby parts – organs, livers, kidneys, hearts, and even in tact heads, then they recognize it’s a lot more than tissue, these are well developed unborn babies that have functioning hearts, livers, and so on…”

Reactions are also flooding in from federal and state level lawmakers US House Speaker John Boehner says Congress will be investigating Planned Parenthood’s abortion practices…. The Minnesota Senate Republicans released a statement explaining that they intend to “introduce legislation to halt all state funding of Planned Parenthood.” Planned parenthood is currently funded by state and federal governments.

Poehler says since 1995 taxpayers have funded over 21 million dollars into 69 ,000 abortions. Poehler and MCCL are echoing the calls of Republican legislators, stating, “we don’t believe it is a just situation for people to be forced to pay for the destruction of human life, and we believe this needs to be banned.”

Alpha News contacted the regional Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota – where Lieutenant Governor Tina Smith used to serve on the senior management team. Both Smith and the Regional Planned Parenthood office are not commenting on their knowledge of this case.
