MINNEAPOLIS, MN — John Jasinski has defeated Sen. Vicki Jensen 41-59.

Senate District 24, which includes part of Dodge and Steele county, turned red with the election of two republicans to the Minnesota House. Romney’s win in the district with over half of the vote ultimately left Sen. Vicki Jensen in a vulnerable situation.

Sen. Jensen, who has been in office since 2012, has been a more moderate voice in the Minnesota Senate. She even won the support of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber spent $21,000 on mailers in support of Sen. Jensen. During her time in office, Sen. Jensen has served as the Vice Chair of the Commerce Committee and has also served on the Education and the Transportation and Public Safety Committee.

John Jasinski is no stranger to politics. The republican candidate is a former City Councilman and Mayor of Faribault. He also served in the U.S. Navy Veteran as an Operation Specialist/Air Intercept Controller.
